Why smell language debris?

How does vocabulary carry care for the special places where our senses meet the world?

an exhibition and live performance in collaboration with Helen Pridmore (SK) and Joshua Beaudry (SK) on the affects of extended olfactory and sonic vocabulary on environmental perception.



Helen Pridmore is a singer and sound artist, focused on contemporary scored music, experimental music and improvisation. With a voice described as “acrobatic, finely-tuned and characterful” (UK composer Michael Finnissy), she has performed across Canada and the US, including a solo appearance at Carnegie Hall, and in Europe, Mexico and Japan. She’s worked with a wonderful array of artists, ranging from purely classical to extremely experimental. Helen can be heard on a number of recordings, including “…between the shore and the ships” (Canadian Music Centre), East Coast Music Award winner 2013. Helen also writes music, for herself and others. From her current home in Saskatoon (Treaty 6 Territory) she performs and presents composed and improvised works.

Joshua Beaudry is a Saskatoon based actor director and improviser. With 25 years of experience in over 70 professional productions both as an actor and director. Joshua was a founding member of the Live Five theatre collective in Saskatoon. He is the recipient of two outstanding director Saskatoon and area theatre awards (SATA’s) for Two Corpses Go Dancing and Annie Baker’s The Aliens. Joshua has also received several awards and nominations for his acting across Canada. Joshua is a proud member of The Saskatoon Soaps improv troupe!
